Band will head to Abbey Road next week to lay down album number seven
1 hour ago
Oasis will enter London's Abbey Road studios on November 5 to record their seventh album. They have already completed work on two songs set for the album, and have demoed the rest.
Speaking to BBC 6Music, Noel Gallagher revealed that the band already began initial recording at the studio six weeks ago, and plan to mix the album after a Christmas break.
"We start in Abbey Road a week on Monday [November 5]," he said. "Then we'll probably work through a couple of months there, have Christmas off, then go and mix it and see where we're at.
"We all write separately, but for some reason all the songs sound like they've got a common thread. We've been focusing round the grooves more this time."
He added: "The last album ['Don't Believe The Truth'] was quite 'songy', if that makes any sense - it was quite a British, retro, '60s sounding album. This [new album] is focusing round the grooves more."
Gallagher went on to explain that he'd been having difficulty coming up with lyrical inspiration.
"I've literally got nothing left to write about," he said. "I've written about being a youth, and I've written about being a rock star, and I've written about living life in the big city."

Three weeks ago, in their first interview together for nine years, The Verve recounted to NME the exact moment that they started making music together again.
"We all decided," Richard Ashcroft told us, "That rather than meeting for a cup of coffee or a beer or whatever, we should meet in a studio where we can do what we do. Straight away."
Now, in a phenomenally exciting world exclusive, The Verve are giving away the first fruits of the recording session – the actual first 14 minutes they laid down together – through NME.com. No rehearsal, no fine tuning, no limits: just Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury back together in a room, making music.
The first new material by The Verve in 10 years is now just a click away...
This download comes as a highest quality 320kbps MP3 using variable Bit Rate Encoding at a sample rate of 48.0kHz. In other words, it sounds as good as it gets.

The showbiz couple, who have been together for nearly eight years, were keen to keep the wedding quiet.
Liam's brother Noel will be at the small gathering, as well as Nicole's sister Natalie and her husband Liam Howlett of the Prodigy.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, Nicole, 32, said: "It's important to me and I love the idea of being married."
"A few of my friends are getting married and it's such a stress.
"It becomes like a circus and people don't dare mention the w-word."
Nicole has been credited with taming the Oasis wildman.
She said: "When I see him strutting on to the stage I don't recognise him."
"He's like a lion tamer and with a crack of the whip he controls the fans.
"He can't do that to me. At home, I'm the lion tamer. Definitely."
There is every chance of a brother or sister for the couple's son Gene, six.
Nicole, who had an abortion when she was engaged to Robbie Williams in the late 90s, told the Mirror: "I'd like to have more kids but we haven't got any immediate plans.
"I love being a mum and I'm very happy with my little boy.
"I don't want to take any time or attention away from him."
With Nicole by his side, it seems Liam has put his party days behind him and prefers to watch reality TV at their North London home.
She said: "He loves X Factor and really got into Hell's Kitchen. We love those kind of shows - Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, Jeremy Kyle."
Liam, 35, divorced Emmerdale and Holby star Patsy Kensit, the mother of his son Lennon, eight, in 2000.
He also has a daughter, Molly, nine, with singer Lisa Moorish.
Nicole said: "Liam is the best daddy in the world.
"He does the school run every day and would do anything for the kids."
Meanwhile Nicole is busy with her new role for ITV Mobile.
She joins fellow All Saints member Mel Blatt, Emma Griffiths and Dave Berry travelling the country with The Hot Desk interviewing celebs from the world of music, film, TV and sport.
Mobile phone users can download the service free and access a bank of in-depth interviews with stars.
Nicole said: "It's going to be great to be the interviewer for a change."
She also revealed Liam and Noel are getting on better these days after years of bickering.
Nicole said: "Everything's great between them. Noel's new baby Donovan is gorgeous.
"His cousins adore him. It's one big happy family."

Plus band asks fans what songs they want at reunion shows
7 hours ago
The Verve have revealed the names of the new songs they've written since reuniting earlier this year.
The band, who are set to hit the road in November for a series of reunion shows, have stated their intention to record new material, possibly for an album release next year.
Now, posting on his blog, bassist Simon Jones has given away the titles of some of the new tracks, the band's first new compositions in over a decade, that may feature live next month.
New songs set to feature include 'Sit And Wonder', 'Judas', 'Appalachian Springs', 'Mona Lisa' and 'Rather Be' - and the bassist wants to know what else fans want to hear at the dates.
"Should I give titles away yet?," he asked. "Fuck it.
"I don't want to give the game away (already have), but I would like some feedback on all this - now's the time to speak up! What have we missed that you wanna hear? Is it too early to play new stuff? Do we skip the obvious? Do we do the obscure? Let me know!"
He then gave fans an insight into what older material the band intend to play.
"The remainder of the week was spent rehearsing 'up north' (what a freakin luxury to make music away from that big London place!) with Nick [McCabe, guitarist] and Pete [[Salisbury[/b], drummer]," he wrote.
"Richard [Ashcroft, singer] will be joining us later when we've gotten the music together. Gotta say - 'twas the greatest few days playin' old tunes! Started with 'Life's An Ocean' and gotta say it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! So far we got a shortlist of about 20 odd tunes to pool from for these first gigs, in no particular order we played - 'Make It Till Monday', 'Virtual World','She's A Superstar', 'Gravity Grave','This Is Music', 'A New Decade', 'On Your Own', 'History', 'Stormy Clouds', 'Life's An Ocean', 'A Northern Soul', 'All In The Mind!' (Sounded Amazing), 'B.S.S' ['Bitter Sweat Symphony'], 'Drugs Don't Work', 'Sonnet', 'Lucky Man', 'Come On', 'Weeping Willow', 'Rolling People', 'Velvet Morning', 'Space And Time', 'Man Called Sun', 'Starsail' and new ones."
Jones added that, in addition to the new songs he mentioned, the band had written a lot of new material which they intend to record early next year.
"September was spent in Terry Britten's amazing studio in Richmond. It's brimming with vintage gear, an old E.M.I desk(Pink Floyd -'Dark Side Of The Moon' era) and billions of guitars, old analogue gear, a treasure trove of effects pedals (Nick like a kid in a toy shop!)," he explained.
"The sessions have been pretty amazing, we certainly have an embarrassment of riches where material is concerned! We will need to do a lot of listening over the next few months before we reconvene in the new year to pull it all together! Plenty of hour long jams and killer choons! we just need to get the balance right."

NG=Noel Gallagher......You all know who he is.
MS: Do you like Blur? I mean as people...
MS: You must have met them enough times now.
NG: The guitarist..I've got a lot of time for the guitarist. The drummer, I've never met him.
MS: Yeah, he never goes out though [laughs]
NG: I hear he's a nice guy. The bass player and singer, I hope the pair of them catch AIDS and die, cos I fuckin hate them two. I really hate Damon. For what he's said, not even in public, but some of the most snidey things that I've heard he's said about us, its like...the guy is asking for a smack in the fuckin mouth, big time.
MS: I thought you got on with him. I thought there was a phase when you used to get on with him.
NG: That was when we gave him the benefit of the doubt and we thought, "Well, alright, you said a few nice things about the group at the Brits, you're not a bad guy." But, you know, he's shown his true colours, you know what I mean? He thinks we're thick Northerners and he thinks everyone that buys our records are, like, idiots because the don't know the difference between Balzac and Prozac or whatever he's going on about. I don't like him. And the bass player's a closet faggot who wants his nose smacking in.
MS: [Laughing] Mince your words there then, Noel. Pull your punches.
NG: He pinched my arse-proper pinched it when I was out. I turned round and said, "What do you think you're doing?" And he went, "Alright mate?" I'll give you alright, you twat. But apart from that, I like 'em [laughs].
MS: Do you ever feel like you're out of control? Everything's changed so much this year...
NG: Yeah. I don't want to be in control. When you've been in control, you want to get out of control. We're on a rollercoaster, a white knuckle ride, and we're just hanging on seeing when the rollercoaster comes to a stop.

Lord Don't Slow Me Down features an audio commentary by the band - so just what is Liam doing with that KY jelly?
1) Noel is a diety in Europe
Footage of the guitarist waving from a balcony is cheekily cut with Oasis fans waving from below
Noel: In five years' time that will be reality. Was i the pope? Well, i am a holy figure in Italy."
2) Liam got bollocked for talking to Girls Aloud
Oasis and girl band meet at a photo shoot
Sarah Harding, Girls Aloud:
"(On the film) Where are you playing?
Can we all get Tickets?"
Liam: "(Makes big hand gesture) Nah, they"re all gone!...
(On commentary) I got it for meeting Girls Aloud, [my missus said] I told you not to speak to the other girls."
3) Liam would run Noel over if given a chance
The guitarist strolls across the road as a taxi rolls harmlessly behind him
Liam: "Bastard! That taxi missed! if i was driving i would have fucking had you, man!"
4) Liam uses KY jelly
Backstage and pre-gig, Liam puts in his in-ear monitors
Liam: "(To camera) The things i have to do,eh? KY fucking-jelly in my ears!"
5) Noel knows what a "typical" Oasis fan looks like
A bald fan queuing up for the Astoria gig sings Live Forever loudly and out of tune
Noel: "We're buzzing of this cunt."
Liam: "It's the Twang geezer (all laugh)."
Colin Murray: "(Hosting the commentary) There's your typical Oasis fan."
Noel: "Steady on (cuts to Liam singing), there's your typical Oasis fan, him singing in the mic!"
6) Sandals at Oasis gig are a very bad idea
Footage of a crowd surfer at Hampden Park
Noel: "Who wears sandals to an Oasis gig?"
Liam: "Especially the ones you get free in a hotel."
Noel: "Fucking rubbish! I'm off to see Oasis. Well you look like your going to the fucking beach!"
7) Liam has dwarves at his birthday parties
Liam is presented with a birthday cake from dwarf entertainers
Noel: "It's the little fella out of the Fratellis, Isn't it?" (Starts humming Chelsea Dagger)
Liam: "(Referring to the top hat) That's Daman Albams new look, isn't it?"
8) Liam does weird shit when left alone
Singer is shot trough a crack in the door, disco dancing, but there's no music
Noel: This is my favorite bit in the whole film! I've never seen this before. What is going on here? It's like David Bellamy uncovering some bush somewhere. Is that what you get up to before gigs?(Starts beatboxing in time with the dance)
You mental case!"
Liam: "You'll all be doing it next year"
Noel: "I'm going to keep an eye on him next time we go on tour. What are you doing onstage standing with your hands behind your back? That's rubbish, now i have seen the golden drifter in the room!"
9) Oasis jack up - on vitamins
Footage of the band getting injections
Liam: "(Shouting) Here you go, eat your heart out Pete Docherty, You fucking crackhea! That whinger!"
Noel: "All the vitamins you need are in an orange!Vitamin C, these three!"
Gem Archer: "It was in an Elvis book! It's in the rule book."
Liam: "Get some to put a needle in y6our arm, it's better, looks better, anyway.
You don't want to be sitting there with someone photographing you taking 30 vitamins, just wait for the doctor to stick a jab in your arm."
Collin Murray: "Could you not take Vitamin tablets?"
Liam: "No, you've got to open the top, stick it in your gob and swallow it."
Noel: "Can i just point out to the people at home that only three people in Oasis are doing Vitamin shots? There's one person left keeping it real."
10) Forget sex, drugs and Rock'n'roll, it's all about board games
Backstage, band are gambling heavily on a round of Frustration
Noel: "Some bands have whores and cocaine in the dressing room. What do we have? Board games are where it's at!(Laughs) I won four games in a row that night! You had to be there! Wasn't it about $125 a game?"
